Tannins

Actions Gently stimulating expectorant(Mills)

Anti-spasmodic(Mills)

Bitter digestive(Mills)

Hepatic tonic(Mills)

Diuretic(Mills)(Mills)

Stomachic (Mills)(Mills), due to marrubin (Mills)(Mills)

Applications Bronchitis(Hoffmann)

Catarrh(Hoffmann)

Whooping cough(Hoffmann)

Catarrhal dyspepsia (Mills)(Mills)

Asthma, with moist expectoration (Mills)(Mills)

Body Systems Respiratory, Hepatic, Cardiovascular, GIT, Urinary
Dosage Dried herb: 1-2g or by infusion tds (BHP)

Liq. Ext.: 1:1 in 20% alcohol, 2-4mL tds (BHP)

Combinations Cephaelis, Tussilago and Lobelia.

Use with Zingiber for whooping cough (BHP)

C/I Cautions Pregnancy (McGuffin)

Large doses are laxative (McGuffin)

BHP S/I Bronchitis with non-productive cough
