Naturopaths are not registered in  Australia. The regulatory framework that governs how Naturopaths can legally practice is covered chiefly by the Medical Practice Act (or equivalent) of each state or territory.  This shall be radically altered in 2003 with the introduction of a registration system for Naturopaths, Western Herbalists, and Acupuncturists.  The driver behind this is the GST (of all things).

An essential read for all CAM practitioners in Australia is "Complementary Medicine: Ethics and Law" (IBSN 0-646-39628-5) by Michael Weir Associate Professor in Law at Bond University. It is published by Prometheus Publications 2000.
